Melonie Park is one of Lubbock’s established southwest neighborhoods, known for mature trees, parks, and quick access to 50th Street and Quaker Avenue. For private-school families, it sits in a practical middle ground between central Lubbock, Texas Tech-area amenities, and the newer growth farther south and west.

Christ the King Cathedral School

Lubbock, TX

In 1957 Christ the King School was formed. As a part of the Diocese of Amarillo in 1983, Christ the King parish became the cathedral parish through the Diocese of Lubbock. At the same time, the name was changed to Christ the King Cathedral School. With this in mind, the CtK operates a full program ranging from elementary through 12th grade. Also, CtK offers a nurturing environment and distinctive education that gives the elementary students through high school students the means to lead an active Christian life. The community filled by the Spirit of Love show a common core of beliefs. We mix the teachings of the Catholic Church and create a Christian setting to help merge Gospel values with daily life. Furthermore, expression of our faith is given in the form of worship, prayer, and service. We express concern for others with a focus on social justice and reach out to those in our community. Also, Christ the King School is accredited by the Texas Catholic Conference of Accreditation Commission (TCCAC). The TCCAC designs and accredits Texas Catholic Schools. Thus, the TCCAC is an approved Texas Private School Accreditation body and carries the Texas Education Agency (TEA) endorsement.
